This medication is metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys. Therefore dosages may be adjusted in patients who are suffering from liver or kidney dysfunction. Take this medication by mouth with breakfast or the first main meal, usually once daily. Some patients may be directed to take this drug twice a day. InteractionsThis drug should not be used with bosentan because very serious interactions may occur. Before using this medication, tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of other diabetes drugs, aspirin, birth control pills, warfarin, diltiazem, chloramphenicol, clofibrate, corticosteroids, decongestants, estrogens, MAO inhibitors, rifampin. Side EffectsAs with other sulphonylurea medicines, Gliben is capable of producing severe hypoglycaemia. Serious side effects are hepatitis, jaundice, and a low sodium concentration. Nausea, heartburn, stomach fullness, and weight gain may also occur. If any of these worsen, consult your doctor immediately.
