Tramadol hydrochloride is a centrally acting analgesic. It is used for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe pain. Tramadol hydrochloride is a white, bitter, crystalline and odorless powder. It is readily soluble in water and ethanol.
Ultram tablets contain 50 mg of tramadol hydrochloride and are white in color. Pregnancy Category C.

For the treatment of painful conditions tramadol 50-100 mg can be administered every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 400 mg/day. For moderate pain tramadol 50 mg may be adequate as the initial dose, and for more severe pain, tramadol 100 mg is usually
more effective as the initial dose.
Interactions
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use especially of Carbamazepine, Quinidine, MAO Inhibitors, Digoxin and Warfarin.

Tramadol should not be administered to patients who have previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to tramadol, any other component of this product or opioids. It is also contraindicated in cases of acute intoxication with alcohol, hypnotics,
centrally acting analgesics, opioids or psychotropic drugs.
